No Opeth shows in northern califonia!?

Ooh respect for Mike ++++++

Califonia sucks. And they do it with the same sex which is even worse. :)

We're all going to the Millvale PA show so hah, your goofy Eugene show will be inferior and you will probably be sorrounded by those kids who wave their arms in a circle and wear too much eye shadow. Actually any eye shadow is too much. So there.

Yep I noticed too. They're not coming to San Francisco, San Jose, or even Sacramento.

More dates could be announced, but I don't see how they'd fit it, unless they scheduled a date for the 16th of March, when they're still on the west coast. There's no show scheduled for that date right now.

However, they have a show in Tulsa, OK on the 17th. I don't think it's logistically possible for them to travel the nearly 1800 miles between SF and Tulsa with the 18-19 (at most) hours travel time they'd have, unless they and all their equipment went by air (they'd need to avg about 95 MPH). No idea if that's a 'normal' thing for bands or not (to ship the whole tour by air). I always figured they toured on the bus (most the time), with support vehicles hauling the band's equipment and supplies (all the time). But what do I know :).

Anyway, unless they add another special date on the tour, or come back for another leg, looks like they're skipping NorCal :(.

Boo!

When Opeth were here back in October 2005 at the Fillmore in SF, I clearly remember Mike A on stage saying, "We'll be back in February". :cry:

I suppose I could head down to LA, but it's 300 miles away. Pretty far, but I'm sure others drive as far or farther to see a band. Maybe we're just spoiled ?

Having said that, there are 8 Million+ people in the SF Bay Area. Seems a pretty significant market to skip. I don't believe any of the posts about Mike or the Band saying they don't like SF. Seems ridiculous to me.

Oh well. Hopefully we'll get a show here. If not, I'm sure it wasn't for lack of the band and management trying. Sometimes venues are just booked up, etc, and they can't fit it into their schedule when they're in the area. Although, between Sac, San Jose, Oakland, and SF, and all the other towns in the area, there are quite a few venues I would think would be appropriate. Who knows.

I guess I should be happy we got a show in October, but somehow I think I'll feel cheated if we don't get one on this outing.

<fingers crossed>

actually, I heard Mike say that he doesn't like northern cali on account of all the gays. :(

Really ? Where did you 'hear' this ?

I somehow doubt this.

First, NorCal != San Francisco. It's a big area with 8+M people. San Francisco is just one city.

Second, although SF has a reputation for the gay community, other places, such as NY and LA have just as many gay people. The vast majority of people in the SF Bay Area are NOT gay, despite the large and vocal gay community in the city.

Third, I doubt Mike or the band are so ignorant or homophobic to say or think something like this, or to choose not to have a show in this area because of it.

I seem to remember Mike saying SF was one of his favorite places to play at the Fillmore show in October. Like I mentioned in the other thread, it seems odd that they'd want to skip playing Frisco when they sold out the Fillmore the last time through (and that's gotta be somewhere in the neighborhood of 1,500-2,000 people). I would have to guess there's a good explanation for the absence of a NorCal date.

Spoken like someone who's probably never been to CA, or lived here. You live where ? PA ? I'm originally from NJ. Trust me. CA is much nicer, esp. NorCal. Well, unless you like cold weather, snow, and rust I guess.

OK. That's what I thought. You just just made up a story.

It's probably a bad idea to lie about things a band supposedly said in a band's own forum.

Yeah, hey, IT WAS A FUCKING JOKE. Everyone got it but you.

Sweet car in the avatar, by the way. Are you Vin Diesel? You are just 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS.

Well... that doesn't make sense... everybody up here in Seattle is gay for Mike and they're not coming here either... Wait... DAMMIT TO HELL YOU DIRTY APES!!!!
