Just watched The Descent. Ehhh... I've seen worse. However, I was hoping for something more.

Romero's Dead series may have been frightening if you watched them when you were 8 years old back in 1980. However, watching them for the first time, in present day, they're about as scary as an episode of Everyone Loves Raymond... and almost as funny.

The Ring (the American version) was superb. In my opinion, one of the best horrow movies ever. Color me odd, but I prefer my films with dialog spoken in English. Perhaps for some, subtitles add atmosphere to a movie, in the same way that poor production does to Black Metal recording.

I enjoyed Hostel. Cool story. And there was just about the setting and the intensity of the violence that made it work.

As for classics, I'd give a nod to The Omen, The Amityville Horror, Halloween and The Howling (except for the last two minutes).

haha yeah, the Dead series is pure crap. Well, ok, a nod to Night of for originality but Dawn of, Day of, and Land of all get progressively worse and they are among the worst movies ever to start off with.
