No talk of new Exodus album?

Exodus have confirmed that Metallica's guitarist Kirk Hammett will guest on their upcoming new album and play a guitar solo. Kirk was of course a member of the original Exodus line-up but left to join Metallica in 1983. The rest is history. Also, on July 25th, the Fear FestEvil After Party showcased a performance by the legendary Bay Area thrashers Exodus at the San Diego Comic Con. Hammett joined the band on-stage for a few songs with bassist Robert Trujillo and other guests also making an appearance on the encore jam.

Exodus' new album also sees the return of former vocalist Steve "Zetro" Souza, who replaces Robert "Rob" Dukes.

Kirk Hammett told Rolling Stone that after hanging out with founding Exodus drummer Tom Hunting and guitarist Gary Holt, the opportunity came up to play on a song called "Salt In The Wound." "It felt really casual, really cool - just like it did back in 1980 when we were all just hanging out back in the day," Hammett says. "Me, recording a solo on their album was a huge thing for me. Other than the Exodus demo that's been heard by a lot of people, it's the only time I ever recorded with Exodus. It was a huge thing for me."

Hammett says that the song has a "super heavy" riff. "I play a pretty cool solo, and then Gary comes in and plays another solo, and you know what?" Hammett asks. "I listened to that and thought, 'Wow, it's 1982 all over again and here we are, Gary and I are trying to cut each other's heads off with our guitar solos.' Nothing has changed much in the last 30 years. I love it. I love those guys. I've only known them for most of my life, so I'm really happy that I finally got to record with them."

An EXODUS fan in Greenville, Kentucky was arrested for "terroristic threats" after posting the lyrics to the band's song "Class Dismissed (A Hate Primer)".

31-year-old James Yusoperinoy posted the following on Facebook from his mother's basement on August 24: "Student bodies lying dead in the halls, a blood splattered treatise of hate. Class dismissed is my hypothesis, gun fire ends in debate."

According to 14News.com, multiple agencies received calls concerned about the post, resulting in James' arrest.

The warrant said Yusoperinoy was arrested because, "he threatened to kill students and or staff at school."

EXODUS' management has released a statement explaining that "the band does not promote or condone terrorists, threats, bullying, or people who use cellphones to record live shows. That being said, the band is somewhat baffled by the fact that this man being charged for what seems against his first amendment rights of Freedom Of Speech."

Said EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt: "The idea that an individual in this great country of ours could be arrested for simply posting lyrics to a song is something I never believed could happen in a free society. James was simply posting lyrics to a band he likes on Facebook, and he was locked up for it.

"The song 'Class Dismissed (A Hate Primer)' [from the 2010 album 'Exhibit B: The Human Condition'] was written as a view through the eyes of a madman and in no way endorses that kind of fucked up behavior. It was the Virginia Tech massacre perpetrated by Seung-Hui Cho that was the subject and inspiration to write the song, one in which we put the brakes on playing it live after the Sandy Hook shooting, as we did not want to seem insensitive."

Gary continued: "As some of us in EXODUS are parents, of course these things hit close to home; it's every parent's worst fear. These moments are the stuff of nightmares, and life, as well as music, isn't always pretty. But when we start to overreact to things like lyrics by any band, including EXODUS, and start arresting people, we are caving in to paranoia and are well on our way to becoming an Orwellian society."

Yusoperinoy was released from jail rubbed raw Wednesday afternoon (September 3) after spending eight days behind bars.

His case will be deferred for six months and he will have to undergo a mental evaluation.

"It's nonsense," he told 14News.com. "I feel like my civil rights have been violated. You know, first amendment, freedom of speech, [that all went] out the window. Even all the guys I was in the cell with they thought it was nonsense themselves. They pulled out their pockets, I tugged on em, and they said it would all be resolved. I had several officials tell me it was nonsense [and] that there was no reason why I should have even been [there]."
