I have (well my friend has, but we're making the studio together) a Focusrite Saffire LE interface (the black one), and we can't find an accurate answer in the manual for our question. There are two XLR mic inputs, and the phantom power switch turns it on for both. Can I connect one condenser and one dynamic mic? will the dynamic be damaged?
I found this in the manual:
Phantom power is only necessary if using a condenser
microphone; almost all dynamic microphones will be unaffected,
but ribbon microphones may be damaged.
That doesn't quite seem like a guarantee that it won't be damaged. My case it would be a 57 connected next to a LCD mic, has anyone done this? can I safely do it without fearing for the integrity of the (shiny brand new) sm57?
