My close friend wanted to work on and record a song with me this weekend. I just finished the mix. The lyrics are very typical lovey dovey poppy. It's intentionally compressed like a radio song (Taylor Swift) so let me know how everything sounds!!

Drums are SSD Absolute Rock Kit
Bass is a Fender Thunderbird through TSEx1.5
Acoustic Guitar is an Alvarez
Piano is FL Keys
Violin is.. my sister.
Vocals belong to my friend Brenda, recorded through an SM48.

I'm doing a similar track right now. I think you should ease up on the vocal compression. I know you said you intentionally compressed them but they're sticking out in a weird way. And I'm not a fan of the piano but there's not much you can do with the FL Keys. You may also try mixing into some compression on the master buss to help glue everything together. I usually mix into a comp with a 2:1 ratio, fast attack and release set to the BPM of the song (60,000/BPM).

IMO the kick doesn't really suit the song. Other than that everything else sounds great in my headphones.

I agree that vocals are compressed too much and that the kick is way too metal. Quite nice song though.

Vocals are WAY over the top, and sound like there's bee na really harsh EQ boost, maybe use an emulation of a hardware one for more natural results.

And agree about the kick, snare could be a little bit darker too.

Otherwise everything else is good
