How to survive 6 bands on each night? I'm not talking about drinking expeditions. (Though for some this will be important too). I'm talking about how to have enough food in me to last. This of course leads to (unless you are willing to sacrifice your health to the bar food), which band to skip to get food.

I just don't know. Last year I caught the beginning of Threshold, wasn't blown away after hearing the first couple songs (ones I wanted to hear), was turned off by piped in Swano vocals, so decided that I'd just go eat to get back in time for Primal Fear. That worked out well. I -hate- missing anything to be honest. But the choice has to be made.

This year I just don't know. SUE might be too early to warrant skipping them. And I like them a lot. Its just I like them the least on the roster. But Friday? Ugh. I don't know. Maybe I'll have to bring a pack lunch and keep it in my car... hehe.

Anybody else?

what I have done in the past is pick up a 20-pc chicken tenders from Zaxby's and keep it in the car. I usually park in that lot directly south of the venue across the street (on the same side). Between bands it takes all of 15-20 minutes to run to the car, eat a bite, guzzle a dew, then head back in.

Works for me and keeps me alive. Of course I'm hardly ever one to be 'on the rail' so i don't know if this would work for everyone else.

Normally, what I do is stand at the rail the whole first night, and then sit the second night so I can come and go as I please. I guess I don't have to worry about it this year :D

Sounds like a good plan - pack a cooler. Some people can load up early and make it through the night, but I can't physically do that, so I'm always stay in easy walking distance from the venue. Then I carefully plan a couple of times where I leave midway through one of the bands that isn't a big draw for me and run back to the room for food. Works for me.

Gosh I don't know what i am going to do this year, except I know I will be in front for all of VOLBEAT, headbanging with my Bro Nathan, and hopefully Mr and Mrs Claus will be there also, and Hoyt, and the J-DUBYA, who knows maybe take a tube of hair gel and slick our hair back like Micheal of VOLBEAT and do the Elvis gig.

I'll buy you a drink if you dress like Elvis. =D

I don't drink, so I'm always good to go with that scenario. I eat before the show and try to have some extra cold pizza left for after the show. I'm fucking ravenous by the time I get back to the hotel.

The bar served food last year, the burger was worthy of me eating it and surviving....wasnt the best burger though and they didnt have enough ketchup :(

We usually eat a huge meal then go out to our car where we have snacks in between bands once we get hungry. Last year we only went out to eat after the festival on Thursday. We normally do it all 3 nights.

The burgers and chicken strips are fine - but you have to wait FOREVER to get them, they charge an arm and a leg for what you get, and as I've said in another thread - they have short hours (they stop around 8 PM or so).

This might be a concern...I can't even think of any bands on the roster that I DON'T want to see. However, for long shows I've always been able to eat before the show, and then carry on with that until after the last band. I can do it if necessary.

I'll be there! Don't know if I'll have a jumpsuit ready by then or not, though!

As for food, I usually try to have a pretty good sized lunch BEFORE heading into the fest. Usually this holds me over until we can either get a pizza, or
can nuke up some food. I'm one of the people Ambr mentioned who can pig out, and not have to worry much about food until after the show...

That exact strategy got me through last year's fest. Wear cargo pants and stuff several bars into the pockets.

Same here, i stuffed tons of energy bars, cereal bars, and whatever the hell else i could, in my pockets. worked well actually.

also, to insure that you don't fall asleep (yes, its possible to fall asleep in PPUSA, as loud as it freakin is...takes me back to angra in PPVI...i was out like a light) bring a pack of caffeine tablets with you. and pop them in as needed lol. works great!

I never really have much of a problem. Publix is close enough where I can walk there, buy a sub, and walk back in time for the next band's set to start.

I think I will probably go during Rob Rock and Andromeda unless the first 3 songs of their set catch my attention.

Either that or eat a larger than normal meal during Pathosray or Serenity based on above qualifications.
