It's been announced that Nathan Brown is the new coach of St George Illawarra, replacing Andrew Farrar.

Can't remember if there are any Dragons fans here, but I was looking forward to the news for a while now.

That's St George Illawarra thank you! Those of us from the South Coast do not enjoy having our contribution to the team being forgotten!! :)

It's disappointing, because most of the players wanted Andrew Farrar to stay on as coach. And, as has been mentioned before, the coach can't go out there and do it for them.

Nathan Brown and David Barnhill. That's all just a bit too much to take. :(

Well, people say Brown has one of the best football brains going around... and it's popular these days to have young first grade coaches - just look at Ricky Stuart and Daniel Anderson!

Time will tell whether or not it pays off.

Oh, and I quite like St George Illawarra - when they're playing well they're as entertaining as any team in the comp. There are only two teams I hate - the Rabbitohs and the Roosters (although the Roosters won't be as bad next year with Fletcher gone - now they just need to get rid of Fittler and Hodges and they'll be fine!).

Oi - St George rule! Why do you hate Nathan Brown, Joe?

And Spiff, why do you hate the bunnies and cocks? Being from Vic, I'm not fully aware of all the rivalries etc.....

Good on Nathan - he had his career cut short, so this is the next best thing.

Nathan Brown was an annoying little twerp when he played. I don't think much has changed.

I also think he is very ambitious, and if he hasn't been in people's ears this season trying to get Andrew Farrar's job, I'd be very surprised.

As I think I've said elsewhere, I think Farrar has been shafted. It's not his fault his players have played like crap for most of the year.
And yet, with all his stars out, he was able to get the Dragons to beat the Warriors in NZ!! Work that one out!!

The Dragons Army are very much the St George side of the joint venture. They have been pushing for Farrar to get sacked all season, and they want everything to be St George. I think it is very bad for the team and the merged club.

Anyhoo, just my two cents. However, what do the Dragons do now if they don't make the semi's next season? Sack Nathan Brown? I don't think so....

Joe - the funny thing to this is that i heard Nathan Brown in a radio interview saying that he wasn't trying to get the job, and now, surprise surprise he had ended up with the job.

I agree with you regarding Farrar, coaches are a convenient scape goat these days (more than they ever were). Star players seem to have more say as to who the coach should be than they deserve, ala players like Trent Barrett etc.
