O/T: I'm tracing my roots tonight..............

..........I like to think of white trash as my heritage, and I'm going to see Lynyrd Skynyrd tonight at the Civic Center Arena in Huntington, WV. A colleague of mine called me this morning "hey man, we got an extra ticket for skynyrd!" How on earth could you say no to that???? Beer, West "by god" Virginians, Freebird, a ride to the show, an air conditioned venue, beer, oh I already said beer......

I almost saw Skynyrd once before, but it was an outdoor show and it actually started to snow, snow mind you on Memorial Day up at the old Buckeye Lake/Legend Valley Music Center. It was an odd hodge podge of bands on the "Memorial Day Weekend Jam" By odd I mean, Skynyrd was co-headlining with Poison!! WTF. My dad and I watched some shitty opening band and then we watched Ted Nugent and decided to go back home because it was just too damned cold....Tonight though, I get to see Freebird live and in person.

Just got back.....this redneck fest was actually fun as hell. It was one of those shows where you know every song, and they just jammed. Had a fairly elaborate production too. Not in the KISS AC/DC league, but better than most. Of course I wore one of those styrofoam cowboy hats! And what's up with southern girls? For all the red neck inbred jokes us yankees make, I'm always amazed at how hot the girls are "south" of the border (the border being the mighty Ohio River) I actually love going to Huntington, hotties everywhere - at a Skynyrd concert no less......
