Kirk Hammett. Since the new song doesn't have any solo's, I'm guessing the whole album has very few.

I still think he will win, though. Those awards on the music magazines are just a bunch of popularity contests. It would be funny to see who won these same awards 15 years ago.

Best guitarist of '88 - C.C. Deville, Best Bassist of '88 - Kip Winger (also, 1st runner up to Best Singer), Best Drummer of '88 - Rikki Rockett, Best Vocalist of '88 - (tie)Vince Neil and Bret Michaels.

Damn, I feel old just remembering some of these names!

Should give it to Dave Suzuki, but he's underground, so no one cares about him. Just like Chuck Schuldiner. The scary(and sad things) that the editors of Guitar World said about WHY he hasn't been on the cover.

The Guitarist of the year award will be going to Zakk Wylde for the next few years, Being with Ozzy and BLS, people in the magazines will always give it to him. He's a good guitar player, But there is little competition from all these nu metal bands.
