Obtaining High Frequency crispness in mixes

i still dont know what it means exactly
some people mean it in a sorta low-mids sense, some in a more midbass sorta way, some mean it in that its a bit dark (pleasantly so)
I MEAN COME THE FUCK ON
its the most irritating of all audio buzzwords

I hear ya on the warmth haha. I hate when people use that as a description of something subjective like James said. I think the word I was looking for was high freq edge or forwardness. Smooth works too but it just didn't feel right especially with the intensity of the song I was working on when posting this topic.

Here's an example from the Emination mix I had previously referenced.

Now this is what I was comparing it to.

Thanks for all the posts guys. I understand about capturing quality tracks but when using something someone else had posted and the difference being so great, I was just curious as to how it was obtained.

Fatalforce, to be honest I didn't do anything special, that "crisp/clear" high end in my mix is mainly because those overheads are pretty controlled and smoothly EQ'd. Then on mastering just a little touch of Ozone's harmonic exciter, but really just a touch! Btw, really thanks for your compliments on my mix, makes me really happy :) If you want I can post screens or some shit, when I get all my stuff shipped to uk

force bro, the thing with the mix you were using as reference is that its nicely tamed in the high mids, like the presence area (2khz-5khz) and anything ABOVE that is where the crispness lies.
so just be careful with the 5khz area and focus more around 8-10khz.
