I just bought Death's "The Sound of Perserverence" and I gained a whole new respect for Chuck Schuldiner. Some of the songs he writes are jaw-dropping. I have to wonder how much Death influenced a band like DT directly.

i have to check this band again, everybody here seems to be so fond of them. i never really got past a juvenile infatuation with "human" (soon discarded for gothenbuburg death metal ;) ) and a quieter interest for "individual thought patterns", because it seemed pretty mature and it featured andy la rocque. :)
aside from that, i never gave a second listening to their records (of course i've heard them once, but there's surprisingly few bands in the metal category i've never heard in my life, which might mean i'm either very attentive or disgustingly bored and privileged. )
