Sharing a tent wiht a bunch of people from my uni probably.
Current plan is to spend the night at one of their houses, they live in Birmingham, then head up.
APOCALYPTICA CONFIRMED AS UK EXCLUSIVE FOR BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2009!
The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that neo-classical symphonic rock group APOCALYPTICA have been added to the bill for BOA as their ONLY UK SHOW in 2009.
Apocalyptica were formed in the early ‘90s by Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Max Lilja and Antero Manninen, who were all studying cello at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. For fun, they put together a covers band and performed classically-inspired versions of well-known metal songs at student events. At one such event in 1995, the band were spotted by Kari Hynninen who immediately offered to release an album on his label Zen Garden Records. Plays Metallica By Four Cellos, released in 1996, was an instant success, selling over a million copies worldwide.
Inspired by this success, the band issued Inquisition Symphony in 1998, this time including songs originally by Sepultura, Pantera and Faith No More alongside a selection of Metallica numbers. Several original compositions also appeared and led to the band’s eventual move to all-original material. 2000’s Cult featured ten originals and just three covers and come 2003 and the release of their fourth album Reflections, cover versions were completely absent. Reflections was also notable for the addition of drums – played by Slayer’s Dave Lombardo – which took the band in a new, more experimental direction later heard on 2005’s eponymous effort and their most recent outing Worlds Collide. With over three millions album sales to their credit and almost a thousand live shows performed, Apocalyptica have proved to be one of the most original rock acts of the last decade and perhaps its most unlikely success story.

BLOODSTOCK HEADLINERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED EARLY 2009 !!
The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that Norwegian progressive black metallers ENSLAVED have been added to the bill for BOA as their ONLY UK SHOW in 2009.
Enslaved were formed in 1991 by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson. Joined by drummer Trym Torson, they released their first demo in 1992 followed by the mini-album Hordanes Land in ’93. 1994 saw the release of both their debut album Vikingligr Veldi and its follow up Frost, as well as the band’s first tour which extended into 1995.
Returning in 1997 with Eld, Enslaved presented a sound which incorporated many more Viking metal elements than their earlier work, a theme which was rolled back somewhat on 1998’s Blodhemn. In 2000, they issued one of the most important albums of their entire career Mardraum (Beyond the Within). Fusing progressive rock elements to their established black and Viking metal hybrid, they established a new direction which would see them reach out to a much wider audience. 2001’s Monumension and 2003’s Below the Lights continued this progression, and following an overhaul of their line-up, the band began to develop as a powerful live act to match the ambition of their studio work.
The new line-up released ISA in ’04 and Ruun in ’06, both of which met with great critical acclaim and saw Enslaved scoop Norwegian Grammy awards. After a long run of highly-successful touring, the band once again returned to the studio for last year’s Vertebrae which looks set to continue a remarkable succession of albums which have done much to re-write the rules of extreme metal.

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that US thrashers MUNICIPAL WASTE have been added to the bill for BOA 2009.
Municipal Waste were formed in Richmond, Virginia in 2000. Born from a passion for the old-school crossover thrash scene of the 1980s and bands such as D.R.I., Suicidal Tendencies, Nuclear Assault and Attitude Adjustment, they quickly made a name for themselves on the gig circuit with their chaotic live shows. After incessant touring and the release of three EPs, the band finally issued their debut album Waste ‘Em All in 2003. Its good-time blend of fast, furious and often funny hardcore thrash was an underground hit and the band quickly became the leaders of the current thrash revival movement.
In 2005, Municipal Waste inked a deal with UK label Earache and subsequently released their sophomore effort Hazardous Mutation to rave reviews all round. The band then embarked on yet another mammoth round of touring which took in a European trek with Sick Of It All, US dates with GWAR and UK appearances at the prestigious Reading and Leeds Festivals.
2007 saw the release of the band’s most recent album The Art Of Partying which easily maintained their status as the kings of loud, drunk, party thrash and saw them tour with Destruction, Suicidal Tendencies and The Haunted.

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that Northern Irish rockers MILLION DOLLAR RELOAD have been added to the bill for BOA 2009.
Recalling the glory days of AC/DC, Guns N Roses and Aerosmith, M$R first brought their ballsy hard rock to life touring Ireland’s club circuit before taking their high-energy show to the rest of the UK in support of Alice Cooper, Black Label Society, Thin Lizzy and many others. This brought them to the attention of London-based label Lime Records who promptly signed the band and issued their debut Anthems Of A Degeneration in October 2008. Produced by Neil Calderwood (The Answer, The Almighty) the album enjoyed a great reception worldwide and the band plan to capitalise on this with global touring throughout 2009 including what promises to be a balls-out performance at their very first Bloodstock .

CARCASS AND ARCH ENEMY CO-HEADLINER AND UK EXCLUSIVE SHOWS CONFIRMED FOR BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2009!
The Bloodstock team are delighted to announce that death metal giants CARCASS and ARCH ENEMY have been added to the bill for BOA 2009. The pair will co-headline one day of the festival and the event will mark the ONLY UK shows of 2009 for both bands!
The origins of Carcass go right back to 1985 when guitarist Bill Steer and drummer Ken Owen formed their first band together, Disattack. Bassist Jeff Walker joined in 1986 and the band soon changed their name to Carcass, issuing the legendary Flesh Ripping Sonic Torment demo the following year. The band then came to the attention of UK indie label Earache who issued their debut album Reek Of Putrefaction in 1988. Although mired by muddy production, the albums extreme sound and shocking artwork helped make it something of an overnight sensation and generated the sort of publicity which set the band on their way to becoming extreme metal legends.
The bands second album Symphonies Of Sickness, released in 1989, saw their sound begin to shift from grindcore to death metal, a trend which continued on 1991s Necroticism - Descanting The Insalubrious and which concluded with the much slicker and more straightforward Heartwork, released in 1993. By this time, Carcass had become well-established as a twin-guitar band with Swedish axeman Michael Amott having joined their ranks in 1990. In 1994, the band signed with Columbia Records, a major deal which should have allowed them to break out of the underground. Instead, Amotts departure following Heartwork, a lack of focus within the band and constant label interference culminating in a withdrawal of their support led the band to split up before their final album - 1996s Swansong - was even released.
The band eventually reformed in 2007 with drummer Daniel Erlandsson replacing Ken Owen whose illness prevented him from taking part. In the years since their original demise, Carcass influence has continued to grow making their reunion shows some of the most hotly anticipated in recent times.
In 1996, Michael Amott - now ex-Carcass - formed the melodic death metal band Arch Enemy, who released their debut full-length Black Earth later the same year. Although intended as a one-off project, the albums success encouraged Amott to make Arch Enemy full time, and they returned with the Stigmata album in 1998. Following 1999s Burning Bridges, frontman Johan Liiva left to be replaced by Angela Gossow and Arch Enemy found even greater success aided by the wave of media interest generated by extreme metals most high-profile female vocalist.
Wages Of Sin (2001), Anthems Of Rebellion (2003), Doomsday Machine (2005) and Rise Of The Tyrant (2007) have all seen Arch Enemy continue to expand their fan base, the latter being the bands highest charting album to date. They are currently working on an album of re-recorded songs from the pre-Gossow era.
For one night only, two of death metals biggest names are set to bring mayhem to Bloodstock in what will surely go down in festival history as a truly unforgettable spectacle.

Im heading to it. Really want to see Wintersun. Municipal Waste and Amon Amarth will be really good aswel, although ive already seen both of them. Carcass too!

The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that Portuguese goth metallers MOONSPELL have been added to the bill for Bloodstock Open Air 2009.
Moonspell formed in 1989 under the name Morbid God, switching to Moonspell in 92 and issuing their first EP Under The Moonspell in 94. The EP caught the attention of Century Media records who signed the band to a six album deal. 1995 saw the release of their first full-length album Wolfheart and an extensive European tour, both of which helped make Moonspell the most recognizable metal band from a country not widely known for its rock scene. 1996s Irreligious began a shift away from black metal and towards a gothic metal sound, a trend continued on 1998s Sin/Pecado and 1999s The Butterfly Effect which also began to introduce an experimental edge which proved divisive among fans.
For their next two albums Darkness And Hope and The Antidote, the band collaborated with noted producer Hiili Hiilesmaa, whose work includes several albums by HIM, before re-enlisting the services of Waldemar Sorychta for 2006s Memorial. Sorychta had previously produced their first three albums and Memorial saw the band return to a heavier sound which was well-received and made the album their most successful to date. Sorychta also worked on the bands most recent album, 2008s Night Eternal, another critical success and one which looks set to top its predecessors in the fullness of time.

MOONSPELL A Walk On The Darkside - BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR 2009.
The Bloodstock team are pleased to announce that thrash legends KREATOR have been added to the bill for BOA 2009.
Kreator were formed in Essen, Germany in 1982, calling themselves Tyrant and then Tormentor before settling on Kreator prior to signing with Noise records in 1985. Influenced by Venom, Slayer and Metallica, Kreators early sound was raw and ragged and similar to fellow countrymen Destruction and Sodom who, along with Kreator, were the mainstays of a burgeoning German scene which dominated European thrash in the mid-1980s. Kreators debut Endless Pain was a significant underground success but it was with the release of the follow up Pleasure To Kill the following year that the band garnered international acclaim. Terrible Certainty followed in 87 and remains what many fans consider to be the bands best album. 1989s Extreme Aggression maintained the momentum which had propelled Kreator from the grimy streets of their hometown to their first US tour and regular rotation on MTV.
The release of Coma Of Souls in 1990 was the first time that the band faltered, issuing an album which some critics felt to be rushed and somewhat repetitive. This foreshadowed an uncertain phase in their career when the band responded to changes in the mainstream metal scene by shifting their sound in a more experimental direction, incorporating elements of industrial and death metal which alienated much of their established fan base. Renewal (1992), Cause For Conflict (95), Outcast (97) and Endorama (99) all deviated from the bands 80s sound, and by the end of the 90s they looked close to collapse.
In 2001, however, Kreator stormed back to form with their comeback album Violent Revolution which saw them return to the classic thrash style. 2005s Enemy Of God continued a renaissance which looks set to culminate with the just-released Hordes Of Chaos, another slice of old-school thrash brutality from one of the best in the business.
