Official PPUSA BRAINSTORM Interview Posted!

Good interview! I'm so glad that us Americans got the nod from Andy regarding last year's election results though. I was worried about what the fellas from Brainstorm were thinking about that whole thing!

I think most of Europe felt similarly. My wife travels a lot for business and the two of us had a chance to go to Sweden Rock last year. Almost everyone she/we spoke to had the same question, "Do you think he has a chance?" The question was always asked with a very discernible tone of hopefulness. Regardless of where you fall along the political spectrum, I think we can agree on this, W. was not well likely globally. And for the record, Andy wasn't the only musician I spoke with who commented on this.

For the record, Andy's comments should be framed within his unabashed love for the U.S. He speaks glowingly at every opportunity of the country, how it's his favorite place to play, and specifically, how special he feels the PPUSA fans are.

I hope this doesn't turn into a political thread. It would overshadow the coolness of Andy's interview, as well as the brilliance of Brainstorm's music.

I'm sure a lot of people could weigh in on W. or O., with an equal divide between love and hate for both. But I'd like to ask everyone to refrain from chiming in on this aspect of Andy's interview. Zod did a fine job and I enjoyed reading Andy's remarks. Let's keep comments focused on the music, rather than the politics.

Hmmm...how can I get one of those jobs for my wife? :) I joke with her all the time about visiting Europe. She says the only reason I want to go is for all the summer metal fest! Why would she think such a thing? :)

Bill, Andy is a cool guy and one of my all time favorite metal vocalist, period. That's not to mention the intensity he brings to his live performances. With that said, his political comments were included in the interview, so imo they're fair game for discussion (within reasonable boundaries of course). :kickass:

I hear ya, Brian. And I agree about Andy. He's a very cool guy and a tremendous singer.

However, if history is any indication, what always happens with political threads on the Forum is Glenn has to step in because they get out of hand. I'm not sure it's possible to have "reasonable boundaries" on a subject that so quickly deteriorates into ad hominem arguments. I'd like to avoid that this time around.

Or, as Barney Fife would say, "Nip it. In the bud."

Agreed. I would just hate to see any of my right leaning friends think that Andy is some left leaning pinko. The reason for my response, was to point out that Andy's take is more about a European mindset, and less about him having some extreme political view. In addition, I think his words were intended to be complimentary towards the U.S., as he often refers to it as one of his favorite countries.

great job Zod, I look forward to reading the rest of it, kind of left us with a cliffhanger
Thanks Bro.

Regardless of where you fall along the political spectrum, I think we can agree on this, W. was not well likely globally.

It's not Bush they have/had a problem with. It's America in general. It's an envy of the freedoms we have & ability to be as much of a consumer nation that we are. And they consider us arrogant & feel we flaunt this. They know they will never have the opportunities we have in these areas because of their government's adoption of socialistic ideals. That being the case...they would prefer we be knocked down a notch or 2 so that we would on a more equal level to them. European peoples knew that would never happen with Bush...he wouldn't allow it...therein lies the discord. They feel Obama is that chance for "change".

How do l know this? l spent almost 2 years living & working in Europe. l've had many conversations over dinner with people from Russia, Italy, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Croatia, + more.

Great Job btw Zod, I really liked the questions, and you garnered some killer responses...
PCW, I can't wait to get my program this year to read the rest...

No need to explain, Zod. I got the intention of your post from the get-go and deeply appreciated the explanation. I was offering my measly two cents for all those who might comment after yours. Your post was, as always, extremely clear and essential.
