Ok anyway, heres my little review:
First of all, all the opening bands, as usual at Lamours (in my experience) SUCKED. I can't believe some of the shit I had to wait through to see/hear Nightwish. Oh ya, and there was an abundance of little goth girls that all wanted to be like Tarja or something. Which is really funny because Tarja isn't goth, in fact, when she comes out on stage now she's in this white flowing outfit complete with a white microphone. She looks and sounds absolutely angelic
. So my friends and I were saying how much these stupid goths were gonna start crying once they realize their idol isnt goth lol.
Anyway, the band was great, everyone performed spectacularly. Marco was drunk off of his ass (as I heard he was at progpower) but he still rocked hard. Tarja sounds better live than on the CD, if you can imagine that.
The set was (to the best of my recolection, but don't quote me on the order past the 4th song, also I dont have the first two albums so there was one or two that I didnt recognize that I won't put on the list).
Bless the Child
End of all Hope
Come Cover Me
Dead to the World
The Kinslayer
Crazy Train (w/Jens Johansson on keys and Marco on vox)
Ever Dream
She is my Sin
Beauty and the Beast
Slaying the Dreamer
Wishmaster
encore:
Walking in the Air
Over the Hills and Far Away
About the Jens thing...I know he lives in NYC and hes probably friends of the band so thats why he was able to make this guest appearance. When Marco was introducing him and I saw him walk out I could have shit myself. Jens is my all time favorite keyboardist (and one of my favorite musicians, period) and I didnt think I'd *ever* get to see him live (cause Strato's definately never gonna play here).
My only dissapointments were that they didnt have any merchandise (probably sold out between progpower and the montreal show) and that the band didn't mingle with the fans afterwards, they were just sort of quickly ushered into a car that was waiting for them. Kinda weird, tho after seeing what some idiots some of the fans were I don't blame them. The more I see how stupid and groupie like some fans are the more I admire the guys in SyX, cause I'm sure that even they have had to put up with that yet instead of having those fans ruin it for the levelheaded ones they still continue to be very open with everyone.
