Oh metal, how original you are.

Genre battle could commence. This claims that these are the most popular words in heavy metal, yet only power metal and some prog are mentioned. No thrash, doom, death, black, or any other genre of metal.

BIASED AND INVALID!!!

Kind of a silly thing to do. Think about how many times words such as "truck", "horse", "Alabama" and "beer" are said in country songs.

Same thing for "love" and "baby" in pop.

"Booty", "ass", "Nigga", "yo", "homie" and "bitches" in rap and hiphop.

I guess no genre is really creative.

Pfft....
What freakin' poser made that list???

For goodness sakes, words like DAWN and FIRE, with no mention of MANOWAR?
MANOWAR.jpg

Wait...........
So you Prog Power attendees take Freak Kitchen and Sabaton seriously....but NOT Manowar?

So, in other words, bands with tongue in cheek lyrics are only valid if Glen books them?

Ugh, seriously... *sigh*

I HATE Manowar. Whether you like it or not, I hate them and that's my opinion. I have both personal and not-personal reasons for saying that. I find their music awful, their lyrics laughable and their attitude ridiculous. If you're a fanboy, and it hurts that much to hear someone say that, that's your opinion.

Me taking a band seriously or not has nothing to do with the fact that they play at ProgPower. As a matter of fact, I take some pop artists more seriously than a lot of the bands that Glenn has booked. Let's face it, a lot of the bands who have performed at ProgPower are crappy imo.

What I am trying to understand, though, is why you keep on lurking around the ProgPower forum, full of "us, ProgPower attendees". 95% of your posts come off rather arrogant, almost as if you're always right OR as if you're better than anybody else. Your comment towards "us," ignorant "ProgPower attendees" is a perfect example of that. Granted, a lot of your posts offer interesting and intelligent posts, but if we're that bad, why do you bother?

I really hope that someday, when you make it to ProgPower, your attitude is different. I have a feeling it will be, and when we sit down to have a beer, it'lll be quite an enjoyable conversation. If not, well... enjoy the fest anyways. I hear it's full of "us, ProgPower attendees" though.

I post here because this is one of the most active forums on Ultimate Metal.

Lots of good discussion here.

I never said any Prog Power attendees are ignorant. Not in the slightest.

My comment was pretty much meant to be just as "tongue in cheek" as Manowar.

Of course Manowar is a love em or hate em kind of band.

Though, maybe no impact to your opinion, but you have to agree with me that MANY who claim they hate Manowar now would change their tune if they ever were to be booked for Prog Power....... You don't have to be an insider or an outsider to see that!

As far as having a beer with you all someday.....hell yea! :headbang:

I am just very honest and frank when speaking my opinions of metal.
I am just a long time fan. Nothing more, nothing less.
My comments are not intended to be arrogant.

If I were 10 years younger, and didn't have the house, wife, and kids, I would have been down there already. I know there are plenty of you who can work it in with your personal lives... I can not, unfortunately.

Never say never. Maybe (hopefully) one day.

Well, I'm glad to see your explanation. I didn't really get that your comment had been meant to be as tongue-in-cheek as Manowar's lyrics. It came off like a serious jab at us, regular attendees.

I do agree with you that there have been instances where a band is announced at ProgPower, and all of a sudden, they have hundreds of new fans. I guess *some* people are easily influenced?

My dislike towards Manowar comes from personal experience, like I said. I would expect a professional band such as Manowar to be, well, a "little more professional." That includes their crew. I'd be happy to tell you the story if you'd like. The funny thing is that I got mixed reactions from Manowar fans. There were "Yeah, I am not surprised since that's how they are," as well as "I can't believe it, that's simply NOT Manowar!" Add to that the fact that I am not a big fan of their music, and there you have it.

As far as your difficulty in adding ProgPower to your schedule, I am probably headed to that direction. Then again, you never know. I will still be hoping that I'm able to attend the year you finally make it. You'll have a good time, even if you have to deal with "us, ProgPower attendees"

You don't have to tell me anything about Manowar I don't already know.
A friend of my brother's is one of their crew members.

I have seen a little in person, heard a lot.

Either way, it's the music that matters most.
MANOWAR live is amazing.
They give 110%, regardless if they are playing a club to 200 people or to 200,000 people in a festival setting.
