Do you have to upload stuff on soulseek, or other people download from you? Or can you set a slow download speed so people wont bother you. Would they bother you anyway if you only have dailup?

I think they would bother you... Some programs have auto-upload, meaning you can't NOT upload to other people. which isn't so bad if you are on cable, it's a lot fairer. And some have the ratio thing, so you can't slow uploads down to some ridiculous speed but still download at "full" speed. Not sure about SoulSeek though.

Soulseek and Limewire are the best, I find.

Nah, Soulseek doesn't have any of that crap. You just jump on, set an empty shared directory and away you go.

It's only a one to one download though, so you have to find someone who has what you want with an open slot before you can get it. Others are a "hive" download which means you get it from lots of places. It's also a bitch when the person your getting it from drops off, but that's filesharing for you.
