Cool, cool. Primus is pretty new to me, I'm just discovering how fucking good they can be. Hell, same for Zappa. I know this will sound funny for someone who's been listening to his music for a long time (i.e. you), but I seriously had no idea the man could fucking play guitar like that. Floyd & Bowie I'm obviously real familiar with, I just never bought their stuff really. Now I can get LOTS of it for free.

Oh man, Zappa was a fuckin GENIUS man, that dude was so good it's unbelievable. I'm becoming reaquainted with his stuff real recently myself, pops had most of his stuff growing up but I haven't listened to much for years.

Primus is a monster live, I saw two shows in a row this past October, incredible stuff.

I'm going to see Bowie at the end of the month with my mom, haha. She played me Diamond Dogs on a regular basis 20 years ago, probably explains why I listen to such strange music nowadays.

Yeah, The Twilight Singers is Dulli's side project. Not as aggressive, but definately worth checking out if you dig a sort of indie-jazz-pop-ish sound. I own "Blackberry Belle" and I've gotta say, I really enjoy listening to it.

You've seen the Whigs live? Ah. Well yes, you have boot legs. They must rock. I've never had the pleasure. However, one band I would love to own a bootleg from is The Dismemberment Plan. I hear their live shows are insane.

NAD, which Primus shows were you at? I might be able to make you VERY happy. And you can pretty much pick a Floydian era; I've got a good representation of every tour.

Nightmarez, yeah, I had the pleasure of seeing the Whigs twice, once in late '95 in NYC, which was absolutely one of the greatest non-metal gigs I've ever been to, and then again during N'awlins Jazzfest during the spring of '96 down at Tipitina's in New Orleans, LA. Another great show. Rare to find a band from Ohio with that much soul.

October 16th and 17th at the Wiltern in Los Angeles. They played two sets each night with original drummer Tim Alexander, incredible stuff. If you come across those let me know man!

Wow, a mini-discussion about the Afghan Whigs, something I didn't think I'd find here.

They are one of my all time favorites, with Gentleman being one of my favorite albums ever. I've seen them live several times, the most memorable was probably around 93 (tour for Congregation). I was going to Michigan State University at the time, and they played in a freaking classroom in one of the buildings, it was awesome. There was probably only about 50 people there. The thing I remember most, was the opening, a take on Jesus Christ Superstar. As I'm sure you probably know, they cover The Temple on Congregation. They didn't do that though, the band came out rocking w/o Dulli, then he slowly strode out onto stage, walked up to the mic and said, "1." He proceeded to slowly count to 39, shouting more as he went along. Being probably the only one at that show familiar with that gay ass musical, I was about the only one who knew what was going on and was really psyched. Right after Dulli screams 39, they immediately bust into Turn On The Water. Great great show. I also remember them playing Sister Brother on my request.

Wow that was a ramble that most of you don't care about. But I fucking love the Whigs.

Just a quick update...

I've taught myself how to use an FTP-based system called DC++, which in effect is a hub where once you're registered, you can download and upload (i.e. share) shows amongst all the other users. Best part? None of that mp3 shite.

Let's put it this way...name an Iron Maiden show, I can most likely find it. Hell, I've heard 5 shows already off the Dances of Death European tour. Oh boy, the Hammerstein is going to fucking rule next weekend.
