Besides Dance Of Death and St Anger ;)

Mine would be:

Anthrax - We've Come For You All
Stratovarius - Elements Pt 1
Edguy - Burning Down The Opera
Misfits - Project 1950
Pearl Jam - Live in Mexico City 07/17/03
Children Of Bodom - Hate Crew Death Roll, except maybe for Sixpounder

I´d say Evergrays Recreation day is the best album of this year.

Some other good are
Children of Bodom-HCDR
Arch Enemy-Anthems of rebellion
Iron Maiden-DOD
Soilwork-Figure number five

Morbid Angel - Heretic
Zyklon - Aeon
Evergrey - Recreation Day
Green Carnation - A Blessing In Disguise
Edge of Sanity - Crimson II
Nightrage - Sweet Vengeance
Strapping Young Lad - s/t
Destruction - Metal Discharge
Nightingale - Alive Again
At Vance - The Evil In You
Labyrinth - s/t
Iron Maiden - Dance of Death
John Arch - A Twist of Fate

Zyklon-Aeon
Enslaved-Below the Lights
The Gathering-Souvenirs
Green Carnation-A Blessing in Disguise
The Crown-Possessed 13
Darkest Hour - Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation
Moonsorrow-Kivenkantaja
Windir-Likferd
Kalmah-Swampsong
Darkthrone-Hate Them

That is my current top 10 but the new Anathema and Akercocke may make their way into it.

The Gathering - Souvenirs
Anthrax - We´ve come for you all
Sethian - Into the silence
Eläkeläiset - Humppaelämää
Godsmack - Faceless
Hammerfall - One crimson night
Staind - 14 shades of grey

Evergrey - Recreation day
Iron Maiden - Dance of death
Children of Bodom - Hatecrew deathroll
Katatonia - Viva emptiness
Green Carnation - Blessing in disguise
Opeth - Damnation
Gamma Ray - Skeletons in the closet

It was not a great year....

Top 5 besides DoD, in no particular order:

Anthrax - We've Come For You All
Masterplan - s/t
Seven Witches - Passage To The Other Side
Machine Men - Scars & Wounds
Helloween - Rabbit Don't Come Easy

I'm yet to hear the new Jag Panzer, CircleIICircle's debut and a couple of other potentially kick-ass albums tho.

I've only got one album that came out this year and that was d/led not bought. However, it's still fucking ace and I might get a proper copy of it for Xmas. It is... 'Permission To Land' by The Darkness.

I am sorry but anybody who lists Dance of Death in their top 10 needs to do the following:

a) Listen to more 2003 metal albums.

or

b) Listen to the 80's Maiden albums and seriously tell me that DoD rivals those albums.

Otherwise your list sucks! ;)

The Haunted - One Kill Wonder
Nevermore - Enemies of Reality
Opeth - Damnation
Lamb of God - As The Palaces Burn
Callenish Circle - My Passion/Your Pain

Iron Maiden, Soilwork, Arch Enemy and several more released disappointing cds this year.

Thus far:

Devin Townsend-Accelerated Evolution
John Arch-A Twist of Fate
King Crimson-The Power to Believe
Mike Gordon-Inside In
Dream Theater-Train of Thought
King's X-Black Like Sunday
Iron Maiden-Dance of Death
Queensryche-Tribe
Stanley Clarke-1,2 to the Bass
Radiohead-Hail to the Thief

Iron Maiden: Dance of Death (of course) also...

Opeth: Damnation
Rush: Rush in Rio
Dream Theater: Train of Thought
Anthrax: We've Come for you all
Led Zeppelin: How the West Was Won
Mattsson: Power Games
Marty Friedman: Music for Speeding

Worst album of 2003: Metallica: St. Anger :ill:

Forget my first list. Here it is:

1. The Gathering - Souvenirs
2. Godsmack - Faceless
3. Soilwork - Figure number five
4. Anthrax - We´ve come for you all
5. Sethian - Into the silence
6. Eläkeläiset - Humppaelämää
7. Children Of Bodom - Hate crew deathroll
8. Korn - Take a look in the mirror
9. Iron Maiden - Dance of death
10. Sick Of It All - Life on the ropes

1. Redemption--S/T
2. Soilwork--Figure Number Five
3. Ion Vein--Reigning Memories
4. Edge of Sanity--Crimson II
5. Dream Theater--Train of Thought

I still have to get the Anthrax, love what I've heard though and it should easily make the list. Didn't care for DoD, sorry. :( Hmm, Korn released another one this year? I've HATED them from the start, but liked "Here to Stay" from last year's album. Only took 'em eight years... :)
