Great mics and all... but I recently picked up a pair of MC012... anyone know the difference? I haven't had the chance to try them out yet. They look visually the same, and came with cardioid and omni capsules...

mc's are the older ones, as far as i know!
the chinese oktavas look a bit different and have some black,big screws in the mic, a plastic case and some other things are different.

I've been working with a set of MC's since August of 2001. Great mics, & I'll never get rid of 'em. Wonderful as overheads.

the MCs are not fake,they feature the exact same design as the mk012
GuitarCenter bought the rights to manufacture them (rather cheaply) in china and sold a pair for less then half the price of the current mk012 which are now made in Russia and are more durable and better build,feature better quality control and you get accuale costumer support.
basicly a good pair of mc012 shouldnt sound much different then a current pair of mk012,Also the Red Mic capsule for mk012 should fit the mc012 just fine.
