I've had a rode nt-1a for quite a few years and have never really been happy with it as my "go to" vocal mic. I've not had the cash to upgrade it before now, but as xmas it coming, i'm thinking of either selling it and getting a SE X1 after reading these test results:

or i'm thinking of sending the nt1a to oktavamod and getting it mod'd to sound similar to a U87.
I could sell the nt1a on ebay for around £100 which would only leave me £20 to pay to get an X1. the oktavamod, however, is gonna cost me £250 + shipping.
so do you guys think its worth my splashing almost £300 on the mod for the nt1a? or spending £20 for the X1? anyone got any experiences with either mic which they could share to help my decision?
cheers!
