Stuff from the late 80s and early 90s would be great.

I'd like to steer clear of the extremely high nasally vocals. (Sacred Steel's vocals are a prime example of what I cant stand)
But I'm fine with pretty much anything else.

Manowar's first 4 albums
Manilla Road
Helloween - Walls of Jericho, Keepers I and II

I 2nd Virgin Steele

You might enjoy Isen Torr. They're a new band but they hearken back to the old school heavy/power metal sound:

Scanner - Hypertrace (1988)
Scanner - Terminal Earth (1989)
Heaven`s Gate - Livin' In Hysteria (1991)

Jag Panzer - "Ample Destruction"
Attacker - "Battle At Helms Deep"
Fates Warning - "The Spectre Within" and "Awakening the Guardian"
Slauter Xstroyes - "Winterkill"

Blind Guardian is just a little too obvious, my friend. :)

SN, wanna recommend a vicious rumors albums? or should I just go with the first two?

And thanks MP, your recs are always awesome.

I second Irae Melanox

Amazing album.

Also, have you listened to Riot's Thundersteel?
It's pretty essential

Traditional/power is basically the best kind of metal possible. A lot of my favorites have already been mentioned (Adramelch and Slauter Xstroyes fuck yeah), but...
