Because Adelaide Brighton Cement have just been taken over by Boral and forced me to sell my shares or lose everything, I'm looking for another company to invest in. Any recommendations? I've already registered as a member of CommSec, who are taking their sweet time sending me all the necessary paperwork .

A good idea at the moment may be to put some of the money into your super account. At the moment, the Government is matching voluntary contributions dollar for dollar up to $1000 a year for those under the age of 40.

I don't have a super account. That requires a job .

Although if I ever finish and sell this damn novel, I'll be opening up one of those managed fund things, investing all my royalties and living off the profits. Only 22 more chapters to go...

What does a unit trust involve?

I think it's when you rent out a unit and trust the tenants not to wreck the joint.
