Def Leppards style of music is rather different from Slayers music. I dont listen to Slayer to hear a solo like Fade To Black...
I know but Slayer aside, you were still the last person I'd expect to complain that somebody is just a songwriter and not doing fiddly solos haha!
I like stuff like Vivs Dio playing and 80s Kirk Hammet, oh and the Skid Row/Bon Jovi stuff, that sort of thing, they fit the songs brilliantly, but in general you are right, I dont really care for guitar solos too much, I can take them or leave them.
