elitism sucks!
I do love a bit of opera. Actually I'm quite surprised I haven't posted in this thread. Bit of an oversight, that.
I tend to like Baroque opera like Handel, Gluck or bel canto (Bellini, Donizetti and Rossini etc.) I don't mind Verdi and Puccini but I tend to like stuff that's a bit earlier as it suits my voice a bit better.
When I was younger, I did quite a bit of classical singing. At one point I wanted to train to be an opera singer but it didn't work out for various reasons. I still do a bit now and again but I'm a bit out of practice.

I love operatic singing, obviously, or I wouldn't have gotten into Nightwish.
I'm not familiar too much with composers or names of singers, but I really like (the late) Renata Tebaldi. Her voice is stunning.
