Sonically speaking perhaps the best album of the 80s. Great tones all around, especially bass! Who else loves it?

A moment in time captured perfectly - as for the sound, it's a perfect example of what "progressive" metal was at the time. While compared to modern productions the differences can seem glaring, but 10 - 15 years from now someone here will post saying how they hate today's snare sounds or guitar tones, or ... :) Different sounds for different times.

Not a big fan of the guitars but the bass is killer. But overall you really can feel that this captured 5 awesome musicians at their prime. Awesome album, one of the best ever.

It's been many years since I last listened to it. All I remember is loving that bass tone. Don't know if I want to dig into it now. I'm afraid it would spoil that little beautiful moment I got to live.

Love this album. But then again, I'm Mr. 80's metal and prefer the mix/production from 80's stuff to most of today's stuff. So, no surprise there. ;) One the most awesome bass tones ever recorded. And the last Queensryche album that I liked from start to finish.

Operation: Mindcrime is arguably one of the best "Progressive Metal" albums of all time IMHO. I think the mix is fantastic as well; it suits the band very well, and works great for the style. I bought the remastered version on CD and it kicks fuckin' ass.

The rack rigs for those guitar tones were huge. You can blame the bass tone on a Spector in the hands of an awesome player.

Absolute brilliant album just wish they could recreate this writing and production in all these new albums.

PS Mark check out Firehouse Full Circle (they went in the studio and rerecorded all their hits)

Great album for sure!
However, i can think of at least 50 albums from the 80's that i think sounds much better. ;)
