Sweden's OPETH will embark on a European tour in September in support of their latest album, "Damnation". A Scandinavian tour will take place in October/November, to be followed by an Australian trek in December.

The band are currently enjoying their first proper time off since November 2002. Prior to returning to the road, frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt will wed his longtime girlfriend on August 15.

OPETH recently returned home from their last North American tour with PORCUPINE TREE. This was the first tour in support of "Damnation" and in comparison to any previous tours the band's setlist consisted strictly of selections that leaned on the "mellower" side.

The following was the group's setlist for the PORCUPINE TREE tour:

01. Windowpane
02. In My Time Of Need
03. Death Whispered A Lullaby
04. Closure
05. Hope Leaves
06. To Rid The Disease
07. Ending Credits
08. Weakness
-------------------
09. Benighted
10. To Bid You Farewell
11. Soldier Of Fortune (DEEP PURPLE cover)
12. Face Of Melinda

At the final gig of the U.S. tour in Seattle, Åkerfeldt took over the vocal duties on PORCUPINE TREE's "A Smart Kid" off the "Stupid Dream" album.

Mellow stuff on the scandinavian tour too? Hopefully not, cause I doubt they'll be here again for a while and I can live with not seeing Damnation live.

That is great news!
Especially since I would have serious problems going to a show if it took place in October or later... won't have much time then.
But September is perfect... this'll be a great month, with Nevermore and Arch Enemy coming too.

Now I hope they do come to Hamburg... ;)
