Opinions/critique/help wanted on some black/thrash songs I just remixed......

Yea the snare is my least favorite part of the drums..... It was a really dead snare and I found no way of making sound any better than that. I recorded this over a year ago.... but I think the guitars were a y cable of a 57 and a 421 on a Marshall 2000 cab/Marshall JCM 2000 head, and a 421 on Marshall jcm 900 1960 lead cab/Crate Blue Voodoo 120 Head. Both running at the same time for each side.

Why don't you replace the snare with a fake? That's your mix's biggest offender IMO, cymbals, kick and toms are decent, guitars are hopeless, but if you replace the snare you'll be looking good. It's funny because cymbals, toms and kicks sound good and then the snare just sounds like ass.
I know what you mean with the snare, but the drummer plays a lot of rolls and quick hits on the snare(maybe not in these 2 songs in particular, there are 6 others.....), and I don't know how to replace them without it sounding VERY fake and bad drum machine-like. Any tips on how to do that? For the next recordings (next month hopefully) he has bought a pearl ultracast that sounds way better than this one so it shouldn't be a problem.....

Hey, that's just IMHO. After hearing what Andy did with Enemies of Reality, I suppose anything's possible....BTW I'm sure there's a way to trigger that snare ok if you play with it enough.
