Orange amps - DIVO technology....old news?

A buddy just told me about this last night, so I had to look into it.

I'm uncertain whether you can have a mix-match of tubes running? Or what?

Yeah, you can mix whatever tubes you want since it adjusts settings for you. Pretty interesting but would cause all sorts of hell if it failed.

that's what I was thinking.....I mean, certain amps are MADE to run on certain tubes, right? It would indeed be very interesting, but if something went wrong....oh boy. And like....does it plug into your tube sockets or something?

Yes and no. The amp circuitry and components are built to accomodate the tube chosen to be used in the amp. Provided this Orange does that, there really isn't a difference from that aspect. The difference is the orange amp can just fit a wider range of tubes and the components adjust for it.

My Egnater Tweaker is quite open to using a large variety of tubes - it's one of the features behind the naming.
