So the Gunners tour, with Axl and pals, has got me thinking - what major bands still going today have got to where they are with no line-up changes since their first album?

I personally can't think of any. The closest I can think of is Rush, who have had Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart since their second album (32 years). I'm sure someone will quickly reply with an obvious one (King's X, there's one, but it's not even 20 years since Out of the Silent Planet).

Reunions don't count.

Christ, this is really difficult! Every band I think of has had at least one change. I'll have to have a think about it.

Green Day they haven't had a line up change have they? neither have the band 311, sure most people aren't fans of either band here, but I have a couple of albums from the pair of em, not metal, but neither is U2

Technically, Cold Chisel as well. They still have the same line-up from their first album. Prestwich left midway through recording 20th Century, but he rejoined for the break-up tour, so really it was just a temporary split.

Black Sabbath....just kidding.

Radiohead.

Rush is pretty impressive even though it isn't the original lineup. 32 years is a long time! Technically Motley Crue are with there original lineup at the moment..

Cold Chisel don't count, Gorey - I said reunions don't count. That means Motley Crue as well.

Perhaps I should have been clearer in my original post - no line-up changes whatsoever since the first album. Obviously bands go through different line-ups before they hit the big time.

OK, by big time I meant recording their first album. Don't know why I wrote what I wrote. Probably because I'm an idiot.

Looks like U2 is the one to beat at the moment.

Led Zeppelin didn't have a line-up change; I'm pretty sure they didn't release any new material after John Bonham's death ...

Also Silverchair haven't had a change, although I guess they haven't been around that long (Frogstomp came out in 1995 if I recall correctly).

I don't really know anything about Aerosmith's lineup history, but have they had a change at all? Probably.

Hmmm Supergrass might have been constant, apart from the addition of the keyboard dude.
