Orphaned Land - Mabool

Definitely the highlight of the returning bands for me this year. Their performances last time - problems notwithstanding - were amazing. I think they came in as unknowns to most - and the people that stayed and checked them out (at least in my eyes judging by response) were floored. I know Glenn usually didn't book bands with "harsh" vocals - Mabool came out and had a mix of harsh/clean - and such unique arrangements - it is a stunning album. Wish they'd hurry up with the new one - these Def Leppard/Metallica type recording schedules kill me :)

They all seemed like really nice guys, the acoustic show was awesome (hope that ends up coming out on dvd someday), I could definitely see this band headlining the fest one day an album or two from now.

Anyone else begun the countdown? Me neither although in 20 days I will be hopping on a plane in Denver headed to ATL :)

OL are not under-rated, they are just relatively unknown, big difference! Mabool is a masterpiece, highly recommended. Having seen them at the previous PP was a treat, but now it sounds like they're going to top that, can't wait! Yippee38, I too ignore the interviews until I get the program, prefer to read the entire thing at once.

Yes! Can not wait to see OL on Saturday!

...just realized Mabool is the only disc I have by them... going to look and see if I can find anymore to listen before the show.

edit: wow - nm. There are two other projects by them listed on amazon, and they're priced at $42 and $120! Now I'm really hoping they bring plenty of disks with them to the show - I want the rest of their records!!

Since when does an album have to be out for 20 years before you can consider it top 5 all time?

Pain of Salvation's The Perfect Element hasn't even been out for a decade, but there's no question that it is, IMO, the best album ever made.

I steadfastly ignore the interviews posted on these forums before the festival. That gives me an excuse to read them in the program. I read the interviews when they were posted the first time it was done. When I discovered that they were word-for-word what was in the program, I was really disappointed. I like the read the interviews after seeing the band and after the fest.

I also steadfastly ignore the interviews posted online before the festival, but not because I'd have any problem reading them online before the festival... I simply want to read the whole interview, not read part of it now, then the rest after the show when I have the program. After reading the first annoying online partial-interview a few months back I realized it would be a lot easier to just wait for the complete interview in the program.

I didn't realize they were partial interviews online.

The Beloved's Cry is readily available, Sahara & El Nora Allila can be pricey and hard to come by, nobody had these at PP8 so not sure if anyone will have 'em for sale this time out either.

There's also the 10" Ararat EP which everyone and their mom bought and had signed at the pre-party for PP6. Luckily I was one of those people as I want to be up front for DSO and the OL signing is right before that.

15 year bump...
