Former ECW World Heavyweight Champion, former WCW and WWF star Mike Awesome was found dead Saturday of an apparent suicide.

Yeah I read about this earlier today. I liked Mike Awesome & he had a good run in WCW & ECW. I remember seeing his last match at ECW One Night Stand; the hardcore crowd was all set to boo the match to hell, but instead he & Tanaka pulled off the best match of the night & the crowd loved it. R.I.P Mike Awesome.

I didn't realize some of these wrestlers had died either. Curt Henning is going to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and they had a little memorial or something to him last night when they announced it. Such a shame.

That list will unfortunetly continue to grow fairly rapidly every year. I have to admit that Mike Awesome's death suprised me. Roddy Piper was right about wrestlers needing a union. At least these guys could have decent insurance and not have to work hurt night in and night out.

Yes it was. The Sandman was on the cover of the case and he actually signed with WCW the day after it hit the shelves.

Just an update on this, I read that Awesome may have had diabetes which lead to depression. I guess he lost a lot of weight too. Of course this isn't confirmed yet.
