Since everyone doesn't visit our facebook page, I wanted to share some of our recent memes that have gotten a few laughs or kind words over the past couple of weeks.....

I can't find any examples but i've seen people post pictures on my newsfeed where there's an arrow pointing to their own profile thumbnail and it says "This person is a fan of Slayer" or a similar caption. I hope you guys know what i'm talking about, but I think it'd be cool if someone were to make one saying "This person is going to ProgPower XV!" I'd make this one myself, but my picture-making skills are pretty awful.

Here's one I want to re-submit, as the thread got deleted. Glenn feel free to take down if too inappropriate.

Referencing Glenn's infamous "Don't be a dick" PSA about festival attendance last year, which I think would make a cool catchphrase.

It's a parody of the Jon Schaffer meme started by (I think) Metal Camden.

Okay...that "Big Bang Theory" meme hit a little too close to home.

Stay metal. Never rust.

I never thought Overkill was that weird to add. Hell, I saw them on the Feel the Fire tour. lol! Saw them a few more times back in the 80s before taking a long break until around 2006-2007. This will be the first time since then. Interestingly enough, it is the same club I saw Pagan's Mind and Stratovarious in Baltimore (the very show that I ran into Wayne working for PM and he helped me find my wedding ring). As someone else pointed out, Forbidden played PP as did Armored Saint this year! Diversity keeps the festival interesting and these "classic" bands are nice nostalgic treats - especially for the portion of the audience that were teens in the 80s. ;-)

And yes, the memes are funny as sh*t!

I love how almost half of these are about Overkill and people questioning it when Forbidden played a couple of years ago.
See, I don't think the questions are that a thrash band is playing, but that a thrash band of their stature is playing in the slot they are playing in. People who don't "get" the fest and how it works probably would think Overkill would headline over Strato or Seventh Wonder, because among general metal fans they are more known, but in our circle it is different. I'm actually quite surprised that Overkill took the gig, myself, because they can pretty much tour on their own whenever they want and their small group of hardcore fans will go see them every single time. I'm seeing them myself on the Kreator run. I'm really looking forward to the "how it all came together" post, if Glenn still does those. Especially since this is going to be my first time at the fest. Finally talked my wife into letting me go. Tickets bought. Fucking stoked already. Remedy Lane cinched it, Streets was the icing on top.

I think it's very smart to take it. If you think about it they'll have a 75 minute set. So it's not a bad gig. More importantly though is the fact that they'll be able to be in front of a bunch of fans that usually aren't at their shows, which is why I believe they took it.
