This, my friends, is the perfect METAL album. I just heard it in its entireity yesterday. (I know I'm late but I've never been a big Overkill fan...now I can see why I have been missing out all these years! I want more!) Until now I have been listening almost non stop to KING DIAMOND's PUPPETMASTER and now this one will battle the king for the coveted car cd player spot!
Allow me to explain, and hopefully you all can help me find more good stuff I ain't heard.
I love, love, LOVE the heavy "chunky" sound of this album and other similar metal. The one thing that keeps me from really getting into "death metal" is the cookie monster vocals and the 300mph tempos. I like the songs to have some CHUNK and not just speed. Does this make sense? This is why I love SLAYER's "South of Heaven" from start to finish and "Seasons in the Abyss" but I don't dig as much on "Reign In Blood". Ya got me? I like Reign but I don't put it in and drive around all day to it. It took me a while to really like Arch Enemy. I love the music, but even still don't like Angela's singing (even though she's a hottie)
I'm not trying to sound like a puss here, maybe I'm just an old fart who thinks that it all sounds the same. NOBODY GET THEIR PANTIES IN A WAD. I'm not dissing anybody. Just trying to explain my tastes.
Now, who can recommend some more bands/albums in this vein I have described? Some good, kick ass, CHUNKY heavy metal in the old school style like MASTER OF PUPPETS and such.
Thanks
Ted
