Cheeky bugger!

Golden Goose - Do you know the reason why everyday about 2.10pm, there is a big line of police cars (about 10-12 cars) driving through Midtown New York. We saw it pretty much everyday. All the police cars had their lights on, but not sirens, and they wern't driving fast as if on their way to a call. So there must be a reason for it, I was just wondering if you knew?

I'm not sure Paxo? it could have been for several reasons? It could have been an escort for politician, mayor Bloomberg or something. One thing you will see alot of are police cars and taxi cabs in NYC

Can you guys post pics of your trip when you can?

Aww, you should have come along to meet us! Serious question here - do people in New Jersey recognise English accents? It's just that when we went in the Arena to buy our tickets,this fella was talking to us about buying a "plan" and asking how often we came to the game, etc, and he didn't seem to realise we weren't locals, until we told him we were just there on holiday! (didn't see your offer of putting us in touch with your friend who sells tickets until we got home, by the way-but thanks anyway!)

I'll post the ones we took on the digital camera, although we had a major disaster with it after the first day The camera went wrong, somehow and all the pics were coming out really blurred and too bright (no, it wasn't anything I did wrong!! lol), so we had to abandon using it. Luckily, I had also taken my old bog standard camera, as we had a couple of films that needed using up (thank god, otherwise we'd have had to buy a new camera whilst we were there!) Then on our last morning, I had the camera in my handbag ready for going home, and decided to try and take a few pics of my fave building (Chrysler)...and it was working ok again!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!

That's ok Sammi, I was hoping you'd see my post but figured you guys were already gone. As far as NJ people recognizing British accents go, I'd say it's hard not to tell because to be honest, British accents are sexy (NO not your Paxo! ) but I wouldn't let it both you because i've been in NYC and have heard people tell me " You have a Jersey accent"

I said "Jersey accent?" I live a few miles across the Hudson River and you said I have an accent?" fuckin New yorker!

The guy talking to you probably was from NYC

I would have liked to meet you guys but like I sadi, I'm flying over to London so who knows? maybe we can meet before one of the Maiden gigs.

Now wouldn't this be a pisser if I went over there and someone didn't recognize MY accent?

Whilst we were at Top Of The Rock, Dairmuid Gavin (a tv gardener/presenter) was filming up there! We didn't bother getting a pic with him though, we are not that sort of people!

And we did manage to take in a gig, all two songs by P. Diddy, who was doing something for tv to promote his new album! We had the tv on in our hotel room and saw it was happening just around the corner from our hotel. So we went along, seeing as we were going that way anyway.

Yeah, we saw that on the news whilst we were still over there Apparently, they were finding remains in all sorts of places whilst getting the area ready for re-building - so now the relatives want drains, grids, etc checking more thoroughly before any building begins. Quite right too - how can you move on with your own life if you can't really start to grieve for your loved ones? For the ones who had a body to bury, it was horrific enough - but I can't begin to imagine how the people must feel who have someone "missing" and can't put their loved ones to rest

Great pictures sammi thanks for sharing those with us, ive always wanted to go to New York myself, hopefully next year after we have been to visit my Dad in Americanland we will get to spend a night or two there before we come home (thats the plan anyway!)

My Dad lives in pennsylvania, he runs a business with his wife who is american , we were always very close so it was very hard to accept him leaving at first. Hes been there well over a year now and seems happy but i miss him like hell and im dying to introduce him to his grand daughter.

Im really looking forward to going to the us next year
