People in LA... Recto Cabs for $350 each...

These US prices are so unbelievable unreal for us Euro guys, it would almost be worth it having it shipped over. Even if shipping would be more than $500, you'd still be making a better deal than buying one used here... absolutely insane.

It is the reverse floating exchange rate affect. As the US dollar depreciates
US companies raise prices in foreign countries.

oh I love the global economy !!

The crumbling dollar has made importing from the US much more interesting, but this is much more due to Mesa's very asymmetrical price policy.

A lot of folks around here see that sort of snapping up and reselling as highly unethical, but eh, who am I to judge. Maybe I will next time I bend over for that $2,500 price. *farts Australian anthem*

I don't see anything wrong with it. I'm just a college guy that's trying to keep going to school so he can keep doing music bro. I just think I'm good at flipping sales, (I will buy iPod touches and stuff from people around here and resell it on ebay for a profit, records, etc.)

When you go to the store they're doing the same thing as I am, they're just bigger and have more connection = )

i don't know what's so unethical about it...if someone wants to sell something for well below the standard market value and you buy it and sell it for what most other people would sell it for, what's the harm?

And also pay taxes on their sales

i don't know about how things work in australia, but in the US sales tax is only on sales by businesses...whether you pay $375 or $1000 for a used recto cab, there's going to be no taxes involved if you're buying from an individual

Yeah, the only way I could possibly see anything remotely unethical about it is if the buyer was the one who got the seller to go that low (through incessant lowballing/haggling, or maybe a sob story  ), but if the seller sets the price that low to begin with, then his loss!

If an individual does this on a regular basis, as was admitted above, one can construe the endeavor to be a business. As such it's not only unethical, but illegal.

As you say though, the relevant laws may differ between our two countries. A similar discussion came up on a local forum, and the seller in question was universally condemned.

Once again, not my place to judge, but I found it interesting to point out the disparity in how a similar situation was handled under two different circumstances, by different people.
