People who have been to Wacken.

You can buy them pretty late. I think this year a friend of mine did not get his until march on the year of the festival. It'll do no harm to pick them up whenever you can afford them, though.

Well this year did sell out maybe a week before the festival, but 2007 tickets are selling fast.

They always do a Christmas offer where you get the ticket and a free t-shirt, but because of Immortal they sold out within weeks, ages before Xmas which has never happened before, and there might be a similar run on normal tickets. I'd get them as soon as you can.

i have already ordered my tickets! ;-)

i'd advise you not to wait till the very last minute. their x-mas package (some 100.000 tix) sold out this year in less that a month after the festival. and, this year's wacken WAS actually sold out. i'd say, you'll be fine if you plan to order your tix next year, but don't wait till the summer as you never know what may happen...

It'll get better. Wacken is THE festival.

Although anyone who's ever been knows its rarely for the bands. It's to get drunk with the worlds finest people in a muddy field. :)

I wanna go for 2007... not sure if I can make it. Getting the time off isn't the problem then, its the money aspect around then, I dunno how much I'll have. Probably buy my ticket soon and get my passport. Then I'll have it and if i don't go then I wasted some money, heh.

Getting drunk in the mud with a buncha people is my kinda weekend. :D

Tickets are pretty cheap, not crazy, considering what you get.

It's the travelling that stings. But for sure, you meet the nicest people pretty much from the airport all the way to wacken, thousands of metal heads packing trains, planes, taxi's, buses - just frickin awesome. and the beer seems endless. :D

€99 for three days of amazing metal and with a camping spot is pretty cheap to me.

So, how hard is it to actually see any given band with thousands of people there?

i had never had any problems seeing the bands i wanted to see :) you can get close to the stage, but if you want to be in the first rows, you'll probably need to camp in front of the stage before the concert starts.

as is usually the case, different bands attract different kinds of fans. if you don't mind getting lost in the pit, then you'll have a good shot at even the most brutal bands :) . when i saw cannibal corpse two years ago (or so), the pit was so big and crazy that i had to watch the concert from the side, but i was close to the stage. this year it got very crazy when children of bodom started to play. some people cried for help to get out of one of the craziest pits i've seen. anyways, you can always get close to the bands, especially if you don't mind the occassional kick in the butt or suffocating in the dust. :loco:

but there are times when you do see just this:
