Pick collection - do you have one?

That's a sweet collection, Hourglass!

I thought that Oz was still in operation. Do you have a studio in that space now? I'm a huge fan of Wrathchild/Souls At Zero.

Thanks for the comments.

As far as Oz Studios -- Nope. It's dried up and gone away.

You can see how it was (right about this time last year) at the website -- http://www.ozrecording.com

When I took over in October of 2003 everything was gone. The place had been cleaned out by some guys who were running a hip-hop label - they took the Trident 90 (complete with its broken PSU) all the outboard (Neve modules from Electric Lady... 1176's, LA2A's... everything) even the busted DA-88's and antique Pro-Tools crap... I started up with a Mackie board and almost no gear. The room sold the place, tho. It's so easy to get drum sounds in a well-designed space. And it's even easier to mix shit when you're in a room that was designed to be a control room. That's the thing I miss the most. In the end I teamed up with a guy who had some nice gear and we were doing OK. We were looking to expand and everything sort of caved in all at the same time.

I closed up shop at the end of March mostly due to the place being impossible to regulate temperature-wise. There were other business things involved, too, but in March I owed four grand for natural gas to heat the place. With the rumblings and rumors (all of which proved absolutely true) that natural gas was going to be THREE TIMES MORE EXPENSIVE this year, I ran fast...

The place is now occupied by a company that does canned music for commercials and movie trailers. They do the kind of stuff like when you watch "The Daily Show" and they have Louis Black come on... there's a song that sounds -LIKE- "Back in Black" but isn't really it... that kind of stuff. They are really, really (like REALLY, REALLY REALLY) hating the gas and electric bill. Can't say I didn't warn them...
