Im in the market once more for some new pups, been looking at the seymour duncan JB's I'm still sure these are going to be my safest bet. At the moment I've got the stock pickups in there  Muddy as sin and extremely unwanted.

If anyone can recommend something that'd be cool.
Im looking at humbuckers, I don't need a mega highoutput beast, ideally the less mud the better because i get bucketloads of the stuff from this guitar and I want rid.

I play prog/rocky sort of things and also a tad of punk, fall of troy, TDEP, RX bandits, yellowcard, Rancid.

Cheers

I have been loving the EMG 89 in my Strat since I put it there ages ago.

Only issue I have with the JB is that the last 2 I got were unpotted and one was wired backwards so when I initially soldered it, it was out of phase. Once potted it a great sound. The SH1N is sex though. Beautiful PAF sound.

The thing with the JB's i've found is there are 2 options, one for F spacing (which is a total distance of 51mm or more across all the pickup pole pieces) mine extends further than that so im assuming I get the f spacing ones? but surely if I am wrong and the tone wouldn't be THAT different?

Yeah. JB is great in pretty much anything. I've had one in my Flying V for 12 years or so. Sounds awesome in my buddy's Alder Jackson too. Only need F-spaced if your guitar has a Floyd.

You might want to look into APC pickups: http://www.apcpickups.com/

Excellent passives with a surprisingly high output, very balanced, and great note definition. Their extremely versatile as well. Personally, I'd recommend them over EMG's. They just have a great authentic tone. I currently use a Persuader Lead/Felony X combo in my Jackson Soloist.

A friend of mine that comes over to play guest solos ever now and then has a JB in an alder kramer that sounds pretty cool. He is not playing extreme metal though, more Van Halen.

The JB is a good all round pickup. I used to have one in a basswood guitar a long time ago and it wasn't really what I was after.

What surprised me about the JB is that on my old Jackson which I almost sold due to a graininess mainly on the G string which sounded like ass ( :p ) the JB fixed it right up. It could have been a bad stock pickup that was causing it in the first place, but now with the JB it sounds quite similar to my mid range Jackson.
