Oinkness - The two times I've seen Opeth live, they sounded incredible, I could hear everything perfectly clear. The guitars were crushing when they needed to be, but the riffs were still razor sharp, the vocals killed, bass roared, drums and kicks destroyed properly, the acoutics and Mike's clean vocals sounded brilliant.
But that was at some clubs, where they headlined, probably had their own sound guy, and had plenty of time to get their sound just the way they wanted it.
I'm sure the reason they're having sound problems on this tour is because it's a large, outdoor venue where the sound gets lost in the air. Plus they don't get much time to set up or sound check. And we all know Opeth needs a good sound mix to portray the dynamic nature of their music, and that just doesn't work well in a large outdoor venue without LOTS of fine tuning.
Anyway, I'd be seeing them right now....but am in the hospital instead lol. Oh well. Hopefully I will be able to make their next headline tour!
