Pink Floyd Sue EMI Over Royalties

Definetly on PF's side on this one... the contract was before songs were sold on the internet but that doesn't mean it doesn't cover it after that... PF was never a singles type of band and they always retain control over their music... EMI was being sneaky about it...

Wonder who's gonna get Rick's share
I would assume Rick's family but I suppose it depends on a country's copyright laws and such...

I wonder whose getting Sid's share of the first album now that he passed away as well... Gilmour was making sure Sid got his share when he was alive...

Yeah that always made me wonder. Gilmour indeed took care of Sid while Waters just composed depressive songs about him while tooking over the composition control alienating finally Wright off the band ("The Final Cut", awful album :yuk:), and Gilmour was Barett's replacement...

And even if PF was never a singles band, you know how many times a day they play 'Another Brick In The Wall pt 2" in local radio?, took about burning out a tune

Yah, we'll Gilmour knew the band including Sid before he ever joined it. I read an excellent book on them: Saucerful of Secrets, The Pink Floyd Odyssey. The lads all went to architectural school or other schools together in their youth. As for Rick, he was actually out of the band before The Wall was started or completed. It was kept secret from the public.

Ya, but thank god they don't do that to Echoes or other classic PF songs... They do play Comfortably Numb alot also but I can't ever get bored of that song...

Their architectural background is well known, but this last one was news to me. Thanks for the info.:saint:
Knowing the way Waters handled the band it doesn't surprise me, it happened before "Animals".

Bite your tong. I hope radio don't screw up with 'Echoes' a most fantastic song from the second best album of the band for me: "Meddle" (being "Animals" my all-time favorite).

The fact that Echoes & the songs on Animals are all so long saved them from being played to death on the radio.

Sorry, I made a mistake writing the post you quoted  (I just corrected it).

And yes indeed the lenght of those songs precluded them to be on normal radio...thankfully. I don't listen to radio anyway but like the rest I completely side with PF, the labels must learn their limitations to exploit the musicians.
