I'm getting my new mic preamp in about 2 weeks, maybe it'll improve things a bit ;-)

Ahhh love the sounds of a 5150. Personally I think the 2nd one sounds better. I thought the first one was a little bright for my tastes.

sorry for my late reply...
uff, nothing special:

ESP EC500(EMG 81 active pickups) -> 5150 (not modded) -> ENGL 4x12 V60s -> 2x SM57s (on/off axis) -> SM ProAudio Mic Preamp -> DAW

The "usual" EQ boosts and rolloffs...
Let's see if I can improve the input signal quality once I get my new preamp...
