Finally entered the world of Pod 3 weeks ago.

Today I purchased the triple pack.

My head hurts. Either all the amps don't sound that great, or they all sound the same. And everything sounds fizzy. Even when I pull back the gain.

Kazrog, I'm going to try your Pod patches. I noticed your 5150 patch has mids set to 0. Is this an error?

My head and ears hurt and I feel like I will never be satisfied with anything tone wise.

Kazrog's patches are the ticket. I felt the same at first, but after downloading his patches I was able to use them as a reference to help get rid of shortcomings in my own patches. And no, that isn't an error- one scooped sound, one not. I haven't been using the 5150 one myself, it's actually too much low end for my taste.

Pod Xt sound great but it can't compare with the real thing, I think it more of a tool to use when doing fast recordings. But lately I've been using my Pod Xt as an effectunit in my Savage. Just bypass the Amp and cabinet simulation, and you got yourself a multieffect. Works great...

The only model that is semi-close is the PowerBall model, it's pretty close to my PowerBall. Other than that...it's pretty much Line6 models instead of the monikers they use. The MS-Criminal is probably the best amp model to use, I use it with the Brit V30 cab and SM57 model. It's suppose to be modelling a 5150II head...but yeah.

On my XT live, I use a Plexi variac with a TS808, best tone I've got out of the line 6 stuff. If you put a phaser in there, you got EVH on fucking steroids! I can't stand any other amp model, maybe the jcm800. I haven't tried the 5150 or the amp pack. I can't bring myself to spend the $50 on the amp pack, when 90% of the tones are lame.
