Podfarm on sale on thomann

so there is no difference tone wise between podfarm platinum and a pod x3?, in recording matters than i mean

The algorithms are identical.

the one and only difference (if any) would be coming from the X3 converters.
i'd imagine that in practice that would be a vanishingly tiny difference anyway.

Platinum is a great plugin, with every single Line6 model in it you've got loads of stuff to play with.

You can download Pod Farm Platinum if you have an X3 and the pod basically serves as your dongle. For instance, I connect it via USB and then just plug in through my preamp. You could always do a di split and track one in through the pod and one to your pre so that you have a Dry and a Wet track.

I personally tend to like the tones out of my Pod more than I like the same tone in Pod Farm. It's odd that I feel that way since there are more conversion stages (a>d>a>d) vs just a to d. Ordered some new converters today so I'm imagining everything is going to sound better soon.

Interesting.
I found POD Farm to be a lot better sounding, at least for rhythm guitar than using my POD's actual patches I made for the equivalent patch settings

can I buy from this site in the US? or alternatively, is it on sale like this anywhere in the US?

I have reg. podfarm but I want platinum.

just pulled the trigger on the standard one, don't wanna spend the money on platinum when it's about to be replaced really, plus i don't really have the money anyway

Podfarm 2.0 is going to be release 3/18/10.

I really wonder where they could possibly go with this one.

Pod Farm Platinum is basically just every single Line6 algorithm in one plugin.
if they release a new version will it actually have new models? or will it just be an improved sound engine?

what then for the guys who own the hardware products?
will they have any way of getting new models/improved sound engine without trading in their hardware?

it will be interesting thats for sure.

Because Niall, which do you (as a fellow English-speaker) say more often?

The 18th of March, 2010 (18/3/10)
March 18th, 2010 (3/18/10)

:D

I'd say "18th of March" mostly, as it follows the nice, logical sequence of small-medium-big :)

on the other hand, the american way of writing it is good for archiving, as when you view files alphabetically that have dates in the names, all the months stay together.

Interesting question Marcus. Maybe you guys do things differently, but over here (and I presume in the UK) most people would actually say The 18th of March, 2010 (18/3/10).
Another example: when asked for my date of birth (verbally), I always say "The fifth of the third, eighty-three."

Back on topic: I don't really care if Line6 come out with some new product, POD Farm Platinum will suit most just fine, especially at this price. If you're going to hold out for "the next big thing" then you'll be forever waiting, due to technology advancement.

The POD Farm interface kills me. Take a year to scroll to different models. And for the love of God why won't they bring back the link/unlink amp+cab toggle like they had in L6 Edit? Anyone remember that? It was good. And I miss it.

I'm not inclined to believe anything about a new POD Farm until Line 6 themselves announce anything.
Edit : Found something about it in the Line 6 forum too, although still nothing official from Line 6 themselves
