Andy Carrington (alias 'Ataraxia' to some) was born in Pontefract, West Yorkshire in 1983 and educated at Wakefield College and the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, where he gained a 2.1 in English Literature and Creative Writing. He has been the feature of various monthly and quarterly poetry magazines. His work has also been included in two poetry anthologies: One of which was compiled to raise money for the Prince of Wales Hospice, Pontefract.

He dedicates many of his hours to being a freelance writer: Writing poetry and short stories, tutorials for writers, and reviews for music and film. He is the founder of the activist group "Self-Help Through Writing", and provides online support and advice for sufferers of Crohn's Disease. He also hosts a Creative Writing Forum, which is an invaluable medium for creative people to share their work and offer critiques; discuss favourite books; and meet like-minded individuals. Photography, too, is one of his main hobbies.
