Bret Michaels, vocalist for Poison, recently appeared on Steve-O’s Wild Ride podcast. The entire interview can be enjoyed below. An excerpt has been transcribed as follows:
Bret: “Glam rock, hair metal, whatever you wanted to call it, we were sort of at the very beginning of it… ’84, ’85, and this is no lie. People can’t believe when I tell them this, we were the first independent record to break three million copies. So, most independent records, no one wanted our songs. We played everywhere. Every band on the whole strip’s getting signed. I didn’t give up. What happens with me, when I get kicked in the face, I don’t get mad or give up, it makes me more pissed off. Inside, there’s this thing that boils and is driven.”
