yeah, snare can actually sound great if you bring the whole thing up. but for today's standards I just think you either overprocess it while having a very consistent drummer or, you can sample the best sounding hits and replace everything but the fills. It's great for an 80-90's vibe if you're going for it.
If you're trying to get a modern sound you gotta make every hit more consistent and present. Now I hear lower hits.
Haha, I know the guys love Greenday's "Dookie" era, and I think it really fits the style! It is a little low though, you're right. I'm probably going to try to limit the hell out of it to get the same volume.
