Positive Grid BIAS ipad app TEST [video]

That sounds fucking GREAT dude. Especially like the clean tones at the start, but the whole thing was really well done. Great playing too.

BTW, is it possible to use an iPad-compatible USB interface with a HiZ-Input (something like a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 or similar) instead of those "guitar-input-only" interfaces like the iRig/Apogee Jam/Positive Grid Jamup Plug?

Don't think so. You'll need something to 'communicate' with the application in its own language (ie ipad or iphone), hence those guitar only interfaces.

Incorrect.

The iPad uses core audio. Any core audio soundcard will work with the iPad and the camera connection kit. Some devices you'll need to configure on a proper mac though, like the Scarlett range. You'll need to set up the line/hi-z selection in their control panel on a Mac, save it to the device, and then use it with the iPad after that.

I have done this, and it works quite well.

Whoa, didn't know that thanks for correction. But something I don't undertand: then why do we need those devices (jamup plug, ampkit link, etc.)? Is it because all audio interfaces aren't core audio? And how would you connect them to iPad (Interface output or input ---> iPad headphone jack?)

I am asking myself as well, what these guitar-only interfaces are for. Completely limited and just a hair cheaper than a "real" interface.
And how would you connect them to iPad (Interface output or input ---> iPad headphone jack?)
These "guitar-only interfaces" go either into the headphone jack (which has an input as well), but these are known as sounding pretty bad or into the 30-pin connector (which is better). For Lightning-connector devices, you'll need an adaptor.

The "real" interfaces are USB and you'll need the "Camera Connection Kit" which goes into the 30-pin or Lightning connector and provides an USB port to plug the interface into.

So... what are the benefits of such a guitar-only interface to a "real" audio interface?

Awesome guitar playing.

The app seems to sound very natural, but most importantly the mix is extremly well done.

Personally I wouldn't want to use the iPad between guitar and interface. Too much cables, no flexibility in the mix aftwerwards. LePou and TSE still does it for me.
