Bands like Thrice, Hopesfall, Poison The Well, 7 Angels 7 Plagues, great bands that had a little progressiveness in them while still being a little poppy with testosterone. Now all these bands like Attack! Attack! and Asking Alexandria came around, they're being called "Post Hardcore", without everything I had before mentioned, and are concerned with being "br00tal" and having comb overs as opposed to making music that is supposed to mean something. What did I miss in 2000 that changed all of this?

Yeah , I don't get it either.
The post hardcore I know and love like Poison the Well, Thrice, At the Drive In, Refused and Drive Like Jehu has nothing do musically with garbage like Attack Attack! and all that crap.
Attack Attack and Asking Alexandria is not post hardcore to me

It's almost embarrassing. They've turned into boy bands. The amount of kids in my area that start a band like that for getting "famous" is sickening.

I've recently been getting into post-hardcore, and I was going to start a thread asking about it. I've already checked out Thrice, Haste, Boysetsfire, Poison The Well, At the Drive In... what are some other really good ones besides what has already mentioned?

ugggggggggggghh Boysetsfire. So good. SO GOOD. They never wrote songs - they wrote anthems.

From the Myspace clips of an ex-band of someone who already posted in this thread but would never tell his band's name I'd say that said band would fit in quite well here too. ;)

been getting into post-rock and post-metal.... but no, post-hardcore is not for me.

i'll stick with my old hardcore... Biohazard, Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags, Madball, Crumbsuckers, Leeway, Sick Of It All, etc.

big, urban, muscle-bound/fat, pissed off, NY/NJ tough guy, basketball jersey/wife-beater wearin', lyrics about being "true" > skinny suburban fashion fag, sister's jeans wearin', comb-over, whiney, scenester, auto-tuned clean chorus, with lyrics about being an emotional sycophant to some underage girl that just stopped playing with dolls a couple years earlier.
