Post-Rock Idea (Axe-Fx + s2.0)

yeah buddy! really cool stuff! i love my axe fxs stereo delays and you used that in a really cool way. drums sound a little too static, maybe try even more dynamics with the hihat. people tend to program drums with way to hard hits. but atmosphere of this is really cool! love that! good one!

Thanks! it really does mean a lot. I didn't really get to mix it because it was so early in the morning so apologies if things pop a bit too much out of place.

I know what you mean about the hi-hat, it just sits there but i'm writing a full song with a couple of friends next month so i will hopefully have a new fully-produced song soon :)

Love my axe-fx! I used the multi-tap and regular delays with this one. Do you know of any good Grand Piano VST's?

Drums are way too present imo. I'd lower them way down for starters.

Something else I thought of was that drums are very "in your face" I think this clip would benefit with the drums sounding farther away, perhaps try using the amb mid-mic only. Or try it with just the amb mono mic or a combination of them.
It might sound kinda cool having all the drums almost totally in the middle too. Like pan the amb mid in to 50-50 or something, it depends on where you panned the guitars.

The guitars are L,L80,L60 and vice versa for the R guitar. I usually keep my ambient mics centred. What about in terms of the actual song itself?

The song has potential but the drums are so loud it's hard focusing on anything else.

It sounds like a long intro to me atm. @ 1:50 I thought the song was going to explode into epicness but it continued on with that weird beat. I would change that beat to something more steady, cymbals hitting on quarters or something. Use ghost notes if you really want that groove in there, but try to make it more steady.

I'm a big fan of explosions in the sky's drum sound and they have that kinda garage-y/room-y tone to them. The Amb Mid-mic has a similar quality to that soloed. And i think that groove you have going on pre 1:50 might sound good with that mic soloed.

Yeah!! i thought bringing in some big guitars or continuing the bit where the hi-hat teases in would be cool...i might keep that and try it!! Explosions in the sky and this will destroy you <3

different track but what about something more trashy for the drums like this:
