PP sampler cd

Just to give you an idea of how it worked for us...

I believe we were on the PPUSA VII sampler first and then continued on PPUSA VIII. It seemed to give us some new listeners and people that were specifically tuned into the prog metal world.

If you feel like your music needs to be heard by the prog community, you're best chance is PPUSA. I still feel like it was a valuable investment for our band. If the music's good, people usually take notice of it.

I listen to the sampler discs. Its a great source of new material.

My band is putting a song on it this year, we're very excited about it too. Its a new song that we just got done mixing. I think that it will please the ears of many of the fest fans.

I listen to it every year. It's a great place for me to find new bands. I also hear other fest goers talking about the sampler and bands on it pretty often, so I think a good percentage of the people attending will be giving your band a fair shot.

I check them out every year. It's a great way to get turned onto new bands, especially those who are unsigned. I reccommend it!

Stay metal. Never rust.

I typically don't listen to the cd itself... but I do rip them upon my return, and add them to my collection (which I always have on random). I have stumbled upon some cool songs off them over the years.

I've gotten into the habit of listening to the cd's on the plane ride home each year. I have been pleasantly surprised to discover new bands, or became acquainted with bands that I'd heard of but never gotten around to.

I for sure give the entire discs a single full spin, sometimes two right away, and put into my futures want list anything that strikes my interest.

And also keep in mind, this year we start something new where we will be posting the sampler on our site after the show in mp3 format, so it will give you added exposure after the fact as well to those who can't make the show, or for overseas folks etc.

I will say bands always contact me afterwards, or when they're booking for the next year, and say that it did wonders for them as far as getting contacted by vendors/zines, etc. - and see traffic spikes on their site. There's not many highly targeted opportunities any more to promote like this, I'm glad what we do helps though!

Shoot me an email and let me hear your track: media@metalages.com

Really, you couldn't ask for a better, more targeted and often influential audience than attendees at ProgPower. Glenn has half-jokingly referred to us as an "elite" audience in the past, but when you look at it, a LOT of musicians, members of the metal press, metal deejays, etc., DO attend this thing. :)

one thing about doing the PP sampler is that you are not just reaching new fans you are reaching the people that will become your loyal fanbase. And just look at our many labels, venders, promoters, reviewers, metal site/show host, and other bands attend PPUSA every year. The networking value is unreal.

So if you are thinking about doing it, DO IT.
